HOW THIS GUIDE WORKS
Clear answers.
Checkable sources.
Kindergarten Cutoffs helps families find published kindergarten age rules and estimate a starting year.
Official sources first
State guides use state statutes, legislatures and education departments for enrollment facts. Secondary references may provide context. Each guide links its sources so you can read the underlying rule.
Dated checks
Only guides marked verified in the research data are published. “Last verified” means the date the linked rules were checked, not a guarantee that policies have remained unchanged. District practices and future rule changes can affect enrollment.
What the checker tells you
The checker calculates age eligibility under the published cutoff. It does not determine readiness, reserve a place or account for every exception. The first-grade year assumes kindergarten followed by normal promotion. TK and pre-K rules are shown as published; eligibility can include other conditions.
Corrections
If something looks out of date, compare the guide with its linked official source and last-verified date. Use the official source and your district’s current guidance for enrollment decisions.
A way to submit corrections through this site is not available yet. Updated verified research will replace outdated guidance.
